It is (allegedly) only stored on IPFS. Anything uploaded to IPFS will always be there. The difference is whether or not you share the decryption key for the given content / file. Since our peeps are meant to be public, the decryption key is shared for all, otherwise it won't work
Peeps aren’t encrypted in IPFS.

If you're reading this on Peepeth, why do you use Peepeth? If you're reading this on Twitter, why don't you use Peepeth?
I love Peepeth. Peepers are nicer.
It means I use Ethereum everyday. This used to mean a mobile dApp browser, checking ETH gas station. These days I use an unofficial iOS client so everything is abstracted.
I’m early enough to make a difference to the tech and the community.

Hey @abcoathup, are those badges ERC721 NFTs? If not, why not??
I’d be pitching the final crowd funding badges as ERC721.
@bevan is the developer of peepeth. I am peeper #7.

I'm at once scared and at peace. The future is more sure than the present-- I have a job opportunity. The opportunity of a lifetime... But for the time being, until the end of the month, I am here in a shelter, freezing and ill.

I am not really worried about fees. As you say, they are relatively low for submitting batches. However, I wonder about the long-term storage on IPFS. With a growing userbase quite a bit of content will accumulate. Usually people don't host your information for free.
Text is tiny. I am sure that Peepeth and others could pin peeps for almost forever.
Photos on the other hand could add up. I assume that Peepeth could pin photos, though there is potential for fade over a long time (depending on time and volume).

This became free after i paid, hurts
If you are really in pain from paying out < USD$1 for a small number of transaction fees whilst Peepeth is now free for all, increasing adoption, then you best have a tip from my money. (I’m not doing this for everyone).
Replying to @tpt (0x618242eb5b2e41ad715a6e1c01aa6d28dea2a911)
I had to pay to link my Twitter. If that makes you feel better.
Paid verifications is one of the ways that Peepeth makes money. @bevan (the developer) needs to pay for food.

I'm just wondering if Peepeth is now being funded by an outside contributor. Dropping the fees seems to have come about awfully quick with such a fairly small user base.
The cost of paying for blockchain transaction fees is currently about USD$1 a day.

Peepeth launched with batching.
The idea for the platform to pay blockchain transaction fees came in May and was rolled out to users with 50 peeps, then 25, then everyone.
@bevan had also been working on Ether free onboarding.
Having Ether is a barrier to adoption.

A PROBLEM: How to explain in only 280 characters that “free speech” and “moderated platform” are mutually exclusive?
Peepeth.com = Moderated
Moderated != Free speech
I prefer a moderated approach which is why I use peepeth, others may prefer a free speech focus and there are platforms for that.

The cost of transaction fees for batches of peeps is relatively low. Also the fees are the same if there is one peep or one billion peeps. https://medium.com/@abcoathup/evolution-of-decentralised-social-media-dfe567d23e54
Regards sustainability, monetisation is via a cut of tips and verification fees currently. Will need a large user base to feed @bevan

now peepeth is free? So my previous peeps were a waste of money.
You were leading the way.
You were paying blockchain transaction fees.
When I first started using Peepeth, batch signing wasn’t working on the mobile dApp browsers so I had to pay transaction fees per peep.
Please give Peepeth some love on reddit

I wonder if this is something that @peepeth is considering already in their business strategy. Monetising the contract itself (perhaps a fee for certain function execs), rather than the full stack, would be one way to actually turn this "piggybacking" into a biz advantage
The power of decentralisation is that any third party can use the dataset (peeps) and provide a different view.
Peepeth.com will need to be the best (nicest, easiest to use) to compete.

How do I compress on an iPhone? Where are you? Hi :)
Cheats way is to take a screen shot on iPhone and crop it. Otherwise edit and crop usually works.
I believe 7GB is the current limit which I hit with some photos on my phone.

Does anyone knows anything about @peepeth architecture? especially about the centralized components?
Peeps stored as JSON in IPFS, with hash as transaction input to stateless smart contract https://peepeth.com/front_end
Centralised is front end website, database and AWS for fast access to images. Plus batching and submitting transactions.
You can peep direct to contract
