Has anyone succeeded on using peepeth on a smartphone? I'm trying to use Status, as peepeth is listed as one of the Dapps, but cannot get to login (nor do i understand what needs to be done). (I have eth on the status wallet)

Another vote for Trust here. Last night we saw here that Coinbase wallet has fails to complete the Twitter verification on iOS, but it worked on Trust, so definitely try Trust by @vikmeup first.
Apple AppStore can be challenging for dApp browser mobile apps.

Does anyone have any insights into techniques for creating a self-referencing IPFS file, if that's even possible? The file's contents are JSON-LD and one of the properties should be the URL where the doc resides. #ipfs #hashing #how-to
A hash of data containing the same hash, I assume not.
Assume you could use IPNS.

Can't see without the ABI on etherscan and no documentation. Anyway, we could build a chrome addon, adding another tip button and showing transactions in the UI.

Which means all the explanations need improving. Really useful insights.

That's a good write-up that addressed some of my initial concerns. Having the dApp pay seems like the most user friendly method - I wonder what methods of monetisation are possible to fund this.
@bevan implemented and created free peeping.
The transaction costs are the same regardless the number of batched peeps.
Monetisation is up to the dApp.

You can always wait for low transaction fees for committing your actions to the blockchain. Might still slow down usage, though...

Paying to 'peep' is an interesting concept - and obviously required to write to the blockchain - but I wonder how willing people will be when the novelty wears off? Will #peepeth use lower in times of high transaction fees?
Gas market appeared to impact volume.
My frustrations led to this:

This is a good point, I noticed that you can commit up to 15 actions at once. With 7 cent transactions this is roughly ~0.5 cent per action. Not bad!

What is the correct way to pronounce Peepeth? An unfortunate challenge as this grows will be newcomers reading it alliteratively as two words beginning with the letter "p". Semi-pro tip: When coming up with a brand name, look carefully if alternate breaks have negative meanings

That's what I've deduced after reading the transaction data, yes. So the data is still on IPFS and only a "link" to access them is stored on the blockchain. That's pretty smart! I was worried that it might save media on the ledger. Thank you for your answers, @abcoathup, @Kumaran

Batched 7 actions (now 8). "Save to blockchain" prompt says: "Your Peeps are currently saved to IPFS and on Peepeth's servers, but are not indexed on the blockchain. Saving to the blockchain will make your Peeps available to anybody." What exactly will be saved to the blockchain?
A hash of your batch, a reference of how to find it on IPFS.
In other words IPFS hash of JSON batch of your peeps is the transaction input to the stateless smart contract.

@abcoathup, @jvck, and @Bevan : Also, in my article that I mentioned in my last message to you, are there other blockchain-based micro-blogging platforms your recommend I write about? Thanks!
You could mention Leeroy which is a predecessor to Peepeth (see my article)
There are some other platforms but I am all in on Peepeth so havenβt really used them enoug to make comment.

@abcoathup, @jvck, and @Bevan : Iβm writing an article about censorship-resistant micro-blogging, and intend to focus on Peepeth. I have a question: How do users get an invitation to sign up for Peepeth?
Sorry havenβt replied earlier.
People can request an invite https://peepeth.com/get_started
Or you can invite people yourself (click profile pic and then invites).
For an article you can use the referral link there too to get Peepeth points.

On this note: is there a guide on how to pull peeps from IPFS without going through peepeth?
There isnβt a guide yet, but it is just a matter of grabbing the IPFS hashes from the transaction inputs to the stateless smart contract.

Will the protocol also allow other clients access to unsigned actions? Unfortunately find very little information on all this currently. Would prefer full FOSS - only a bit happy with only an open protocol. But the protocol must be really neutral then - need to investigate more.
Look at your peep in IPFS and look at the transaction inputs to the smart contract.
You can peep directly to the smart contract.
You can get saved peeps from the smart contract.
You can create your own front end.
