Please please do follow your instincts and distinguish Peepeth from Twitter and focus on the unique qualities offered by blockchain technology. I'm happy to hear Peepeth will be evolving to grow with blockchain technology and not be held back by yesterday's models.
Thanks dcr, I appreciate your encouragement!

Realize that you are living in the present moment ALL of the time. Keep centered on now.
That is also an ideal of mine. In normal life, it's easy to forget. I don't know how realistic it is to ask a modern human to be present at every moment-have you been able to achieve that?

Objectively: always trying to be objective. 🐧🐧🐧 And self-reliance (Ralph Waldo Emerson).
+1 for Emerson! It takes me awhile to get used to his language / densely packed prose, but it's chock full of gems. Here's Self Reliance:

I can only hope to live an great life in his honour, though I know I can never live as well as he would have. I'm OK with that, life is unfair. I will never be as ambitious, hardworking, social, and selfless as he was. I will never have his wit, intellect or street smarts. But I will do my best, and when my own time comes the one question I want to answer with a resounding YES is "did i use everything in the tank?"
Thanks for sharing. I admire your dedication to living a life that honors his, and your dedication to leaving nothing on the table. I lost a good friend recently who I also looked up to, and am thinking through these points a lot myself.

Mmh, nice. It struck me pretty heavily when I read it last night. What is best for James and his happiness/health? When I look at myself from an outside perspective I'm almost universally much more compassionate and rational.
I've found that useful too.
This helps me step back: ask myself what I wish I'd already been doing consistently for the past year (say, vlogging, burpees, etc). "past Bevan" is an easy person to foist a burden onto. The idea is to then start doing that task. Simply asking "what's best for me" works too but can lead to rationalization.

I get the idea of "policy-ing" web-apps. But at the same time, if people are not confronted to such abominations, they will go on about their lives thinking the world is all spring waters and roses. Being exposed to unkind people also teaches you about what true kindness is. :)
I agree with that. The message I got from the post was about taking responsibility for the state of one's website (insert what one will in place of "full of assholes"). That seems to be a resourceful mindset in general.

So what you was referring to? Timeline? I like chronological lists. I got lost on twitter when messed up everything in order to promote tweets using AI.
Yes. What would it be like to remove timestamps from the UI?
Also, what would a platform look like where top-level posts have no temporal ordering at all?
This is meant more as a thought experiment than "do you want Peepeth to have no timestamps or temporal ordering", although that's welcome too :)
Appreciate your thoughts on Twitter's AI feed!

I think it's a funny original part of the project. Maybe could be nice give to it less relevance but I would keep it as part of the historical soul of Peepeth.
Ah, do you mean for streaks? Improvements to that are on the way.

I would probably post less but more objectively the phenomenon of people starting a streak and disappearing when they first mess their streak up would be different. Not necessarily better or worse but definitely different.
Ah, I agree. As a side note, streaks still have to be ameliorated. I wasn't even thinking about them when I asked the question.
Rather, was wondering what a platform without timestamps would look like. Perhaps without any kind of temporal ordering of top-level posts. Kind of hard to imagine but interesting to think about. How would it be used?

After sous vide bathing for 16 hours, resting a good chunk of the day in the fridge, and grilled with plenty of BBQ sauce I can say the sous vide ribs were quite the success. They're tender like they've been in a smoker for 24 hours but super juicy.
Glad it worked out! Sounds delicious.

This is my first time sous viding ribs. I'll know tomorrow how they turn out. You still sear meat after a sous vide bath and these guys are going on the grill for several round of BBQ sauce. I'm going to get the grill going, finish the sous vide burgers, then sauce the ribs, grill until the sauce is dry, extra layer of sauce, grill until dry, and then last layer of sauce and serve. I hope they're as tender as smoked.
I have no doubt they'll be amazing. Sous vide + grill sounds like a powerful combo.

What was the fiat version?
You'd state a goal and a completion date, and enter names/emails of people who'd be notified on that date.
That email would be sent no matter what- unless you paid to have it retracted (you'd set the amount when you register).
It wasn't a commercial success but a few people used it.

Would anyone use a Bitcoin-backed accountability platform? e.g. GoFuckingDoIt.com, BeeMinder.com Place a goal. Commit Bitcoin. If you lose, you pay. If you complete, you get your money back (or potentially more, from a pool of losers a la stickk.com / beeminder.com) As far as consequences for doing stuff goes, money is pretty damn good. Bitcoin is even better b/c losing it is losing potential future gains as well.
I like the idea and once built a fiat version of something similar. There's a small but demonstrated market for it.
ETH contact could be interesting as others could decide if you accomplished your goal and trigger the release directly.

#lkie Thanks for sharing this. I've found that I can put some distance between me and my inner dialog through a form of meditation. Specifically, putting some awareness on body sensations as I do other things. It takes some time and effort to get into the swing of that practice, but the effects are profound.
