I have an idea for polls. What if we start using checkbox markdown in our posts i.e.
- [ ] Option 1
- [x] Option 2
and someone writes an extension to parse it all into HTML & register a click-event as a commented vote, also expressed in MD.
Similar idea: parse #lkie as hearts

Huh - never heard of WETH https://weth.io/.
Did you know that $ETH doesn't conform to it's own ERC20 standard?

Our #peeps lasting longer than any other “idea fixed [permenantly] in a tangible medium of expression” we could create... is this the ultimate copyrightable platform? Regardless, it’s cool/overwhelming to think of that kind of permanence
Well, for that specific example, there's numerous blockchain-backed companies starting up in the copyright/IP space that could serve that better, e.g. @myCopyrightBank (#sheep).
But absolutely, and I don't think many of us are used to or ready for it (I wasn't, and am still not)

How people react to a post is subjective. The question is who has the right to decide which posts are politically upsetting and which are not? Negativity bias works for the censor and the censored. Who gets to be the thought police and what are the qualifications needed?
Agree, that's something that has to be worked on.

Bumping an idea from 1.5 years ago: A Note On Charity Through Marginal Price Discrimination https://vitalik.ca/jekyll/general/2017/03/11/a_note_on_charity.html
Nice idea, and good choice in sharing it here - perhaps the Against Malaria badges can be expanded into more of this 'sticker' system (& diff. charities/value). I like the idea of businesses being built off/around ecosystems like Peepeth & contributing to pro-social goals

Nice work... can't see, but there may be a problem with my heavily extension-addled Chrome :)

Yep, I think we're all ready with for that one. Btw, I like the idea of shortcodes for books. So we'll start with #CWC.
#cwc it is!
and starting off early. Noice. (that means 'nice' by the way, downunder slang)

Most importantly, no delete. (My understanding:) Even if Peepeth.com catastrophically fails, the peeps live forever on the ETH network. That means ETH has to fail for our peeps to be destroyed. It's almost certain your peeps will outlive you & your other online activity.
Lots of fun for that though. What's life without risk and a little bit of skin in the game?

This is where the smart contract comes in - anything can read it, and anything can post to it. It lives on the blockchain. This means: *Posts last forever. No delete *People who don't like peepeth.com can go make their own front-end with different rules *Moderation is viewable /3

There is also a necessary place for negatives, criticism, chaos, nonsense, creativity, aggression, politics. I personally reckon that without these, forced "positivity" becomes more&more like tyranny/unequal censoring, which we're seeing with a few of the big social platforms /2

@pluma gives a good explanation here of the filtered front-end/open back-end of Peepeth. Best way I can describe it: Human brains have a natural negativity bias. We're trying to make positive/useful/considerate/good-intentioned posts the path of least resistance. But... /1

That would be the obvious and best solution. Otherwise you have a situation where the censor can be biased toward a certain policital group, only censoring the political posts they don't like.
Agree. Tricky issue. It's a solution that will improve with time.

What is the point of Peepeth if you turn it into Twitter?
I see it as a complement - an evolved version of Twitter that is better designed and more efficient. And long lasting. You can literally post whatever you want, but you can't take posts back. Remember, Peepeth.com is not the only frontend. If you can code, you can build your own.

Instead, Peepeth be trying a new crowdfunding approach. A crowdfunding page will be launched on Peepeth very soon. It will support ETH, tokens, and fiat. It’s a more appropriate solution for a community which already has a home and a native currency.
💯

Instead of just hard limit of 1 Enso/day. There could be an increment of the limit by the number of Ensos we receive. So one a day + Ensos received #makepeepethgreat
Good idea @aribo! and welcome :)

It’s not hacked. The “Elon Musk” tweeting the Medium article is a fake one (WAPNblog is the username) The one saying he wants ETH is the real one (elonmusk).
^ yep, this - scammers are very clever.

Peepers/Peeple = large group of individuals. <i>"Peepers gonna peep."</i> peep(s) = post(s) on Peepeth <i>"I #lkie @layton's peeps."</i> Peeps = smaller, close-knit group of individuals. <i>"Sup, Peeps?"</i> That's my distinctions, anyway. @CallMeGwei @abcoathup thoughts?
And of course:
sheep:
(noun) a shared peep
(verb) to share a peep
examples:
"I sheeped my latest photo to Twitter"
"What's your sheep-to-xeep [exclusive peep] ratio?"
(can we make this official @Bevan?)

Definitely prefer "Peeple" over "Peepers" ...suppose we could also just say we're "Peeps"... As in, "Peeps that peep." Or "Look at that peep peepin."

Hi @Bevan - it would be pretty cool if we could grant open usage rights to the media that we share, right in Peepeth. Like, tag a post #freeuse and it automatically attaches a link to a universal Peepeth "do what you want with it" license.
Great idea! And/or creative commons shortcodes?

Hahaha, I'm just glad we have a group going.
@math - good idea to make Telegram for general chat. But I think for the biggest posts i.e. takeaways, analysis, it's worth putting on Peepeth. Think how cool it will be for people in 100 years to see what we were reading....

Woot, #lkie! We going with Capitalism without Capital then?

An actual peep for posterity:
I’m sorry about the tremendous waste we’re creating with plastic garbage. I’m sorry for the fact that me and my household put the mass of an entire person into landfill every week. We will only experience a fraction of the damage we’re giving you.
Subscribed, rated, and reviewed @APompliano. I’m only happy to, your crypto summaries are better than anyone else’s I’ve come across.
How to ask a favour:
*Be direct, don't ask "are you free" or "do you have spare time"
*Make the person feel needed
*Give a reason why
*Provide an opportunity to escape

Probably voting on the latest thread with shortcodes for the books? Or simply do a random hat pick...
