I like the idea and once built a fiat version of something similar. There's a small but demonstrated market for it. ETH contact could be interesting as others could decide if you accomplished your goal and trigger the release directly.
What was the fiat version?

Just realised something - it's not super profound, but anyway: - the identity other people have of you, - what you really identify with, and - the identity you want other people to have of you are all 3 seperate things. I think it's a decent goal to try to identify with as little as possible personally (i.e. minimal attachments), yet also make life easier for other people by providing a strong outer identity.
It's much nicer to know:
"this person likes X and can help me with Y"
vs. some vague
"this person is X, Y, Z, and also A, B, C, can do a lot of things but I don't know what they are good at or what they want"
We need that shortcut of personal roles, reputations, established behaviour, to work together.

Would anyone use a Bitcoin-backed accountability platform?
e.g. GoFuckingDoIt.com, BeeMinder.com
Place a goal. Commit Bitcoin. If you lose, you pay. If you complete, you get your money back (or potentially more, from a pool of losers a la stickk.com / beeminder.com)
As far as consequences for doing stuff goes, money is pretty damn good. Bitcoin is even better b/c losing it is losing potential future gains as well.

I worked at @Cryptopia_NZ 2017-2018. Disappointed at how things have turned out. The best we can ever do with a bad situation is learn from it, and meme it.
For customers: #NotYourKeys. Trading incurs risk.
For companies: Be transparent (see @binance hack), & expect attack.
This is going against my long-held belief that Facebook is going down the toilet... b/c if they can somehow pull off:
(1) a version of 'privacy' that still keeps them profitable,
(2) governments like my very own New Zealand issuing custom laws for them (#christchurchcal) that make it hard for competition,
(3) a global coin that is easy for FB users to use,
I can't see a way that they won't conquer the world. https://bit.ly/2HEcsCJ

These days, I'm glad that Josh came in and out of my life like he did. He gave his gift to the world, including me. He showed me what a good person was. Made me feel like I was worth something. Sorted me out, and set me on track. That year was tough for me. I didn't accept the grief for months. In fact it was only last year I realised why his death shook me so much. He wasn't just a friend, he was my ideal.
I can only hope to live an great life in his honour, though I know I can never live as well as he would have. I'm OK with that, life is unfair. I will never be as ambitious, hardworking, social, and selfless as he was. I will never have his wit, intellect or street smarts.
But I will do my best, and when my own time comes the one question I want to answer with a resounding YES is "did i use everything in the tank?"

#lkie It's awesome that you're doing what you want and facing your fears. Death does indeed put things into perspective.

Mmh, nice. It struck me pretty heavily when I read it last night. What is best for James and his happiness/health? When I look at myself from an outside perspective I'm almost universally much more compassionate and rational.
The other side of this: I am usually more compassionate than I need to be with my closest friends - I could probably challenge/criticise them more and they could take it, and likely become even better people because of that.
There's a special dynamic between praise and criticism - and over time I increasingly value having a red-team gang vs. a support circle. Competition, honour, ego, etc - they can be made useful.

#lkie Thanks for sharing this. I've found that I can put some distance between me and my inner dialog through a form of meditation. Specifically, putting some awareness on body sensations as I do other things. It takes some time and effort to get into the swing of that practice, but the effects are profound.
Mmh, nice.

At this point I'm kind of toying with how much good stuff life will let me get away with. There seems to be no reasonable limit.
I can even enjoy bad sensations - anxiety, depression, anger, grief, envy, and rejection - when I pay attention to them.
Even when life is terrible it has flavour.
I really can't imagine any worse situation than a life without emotions. Even though it would arguably be better lived.

Looking forward to following your adventures there! Do you know where you'll stay yet? Brazil has been on my list for awhile. When I was your age (I feel so old saying that) I had plans to go to South America but missed my flight in dramatic fashion (I'll keep that story on #web0, lol).
Goiania most likely, then Sao Paolo...
Ugh, missing an intercontinental flight.... that's gotta be a sucker punch. I remember having a dream that I missed my flight the day before I flew back to New Zealand (from Denmark) 2 years ago - woke up sweating.

My thoughts on the recent Christchurch Call. I think it is a naive path for New Zealand to take and it does not solve the core problem: the social environment the shooter had.

Oh, I guess you have a 3 months permit or something similar... :-| What's your next country?
Yes.
Germany - for a few days, then Czech Republic for a few days. Next long term stay is London for a month, then Portugal for a few days before heading over to Brazil (1+ month)

π Another bold decision. I'm sure you'll make the most of it. Very excited for you! Why did you pick Brazil?
I'm not entirely sure. But I knew I wanted to go to either Asia or South America on my way back to New Zealand for December. South America has fascinated me for years. And of course, cost-of-living is way cheaper in the likes of Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Argentina than Europe - even south Italy.
