Was gonna say, are you on Kindle / Audible? Those lighten the load considerably while traveling :)
Oh yes, definitely. I like physical books for tactile memory + doodling, but for hefty books there's simply no other option.

#lkie It's great to be unencumbered.
Perhaps it's time to just go full @vbuterin and get myself a kickass travel backpack to live out of

Fun fact: I was born on the same day as Google Inc.
Funnily enough, Sergey Brin and Larry Page were probably awake at precisely the same moment I first drew breath, pulling an all-nighter to get all the paperwork lined up to cash their first $100k.

The entire New Zealand legal process for changing your name, verifying your identity, and getting a new passport, can be done online. It's much more boring than I expected. Lawyer's signature, email govt, pay fee, done. Total cost for name rego + passport = $350 ($230 USD)
Nothing screams obvious blockchain use case as changing & renewing superficial identity details on a government registrar.

There's another factor that I just thought of: I'm typically limited (via path of least resistance) to the books & clothes I bring with me. Clothes are less difficult to give up b/c I care less about what I wear compared to what books I'm reading.
In that case, I can probably apply the 80/20 rule to books based on "What 20% of books will provide 80% of the information I need in the next 6 weeks?"
I know I'm well-equipped to find more books (esp. with a Kindle)

I like the forced essentialism that travelling ensures. Journals, physical books, various gifts, clothes, memorabilia - they're all baggage. A nice side effect is that the best place for all of these (at least the latter 4) is that I get to gift or re-gift them to others.

Books are the hardest ones to let go of, particularly heavily annotated ones. Same goes for journals. Luckily they keep quite well in an airtight container. As for the unread books, I'm more than happy to make someone's day with a well-placed book as gift.
Example 2/
Tribe of Mentors by @tferriss (my all-time favorite author)
Although I devoured (+massively annotated) it's predecessor (ToT) in 2017, I simply didn't have the same time this year.
So it goes in perfect unread condition to the friend who shares my love of questions.

Example 1/
Nordic: A Photographic Essay of Landscapes, Food and People
I bought this to enjoy myself but didn't make the time to.
So it goes pristine and unread to a friend who loves mountain biking, is planning to move to Norway, and does photography as a hobby.
