I have it narrowed to a sausage stuffing stuffed chicken or spiral cut ham. My great grandma's green bean recipe is a must. Maybe a hashbrown casserole. Deviled eggs. Eggnog cheesecake? There won't be any extended family visiting like on Thanksgiving so I have to cook smaller.
hashbrown casserole? do tell! πππ

I'm prepared for Christmas. I've got the presents for the family in my closet and bought all my steam friends a game each today. I like buying gifts for people so this is the best time of the year for me. I plan it months in advance. Now I just have to figure out what to cook.
what ideas are bouncing around your head?
i'm thinking cranberry and chocolate for this season. π

At first I read it @Pluma Diabetane π
just wanted to say i love both names. π
@theoldsparrow glad your lemon meringue tarts were a success! it's always so nice to see folks having fun in their kitchens, especially during the holidays! now it's time to really up our game for christmas! ππ

It's been 8 days apparently and I'm doing fine. I mean, milk, cereals and homemade jams, they all have sugar, but I didn't take any additional one in form of candies, biscuits, cakes and sodas. I'm quite happy with how it's going so far.
nice update! glad to see you're feeling good about it. i don't necessarily think we can absolutely avoid *all* sugars, but it definitely helps not to pile more on when we don't need it lol. i'm in the exact opposite business, of course. π
been a long, busy weekend of nothing but relaxing and spending some good quality time with those who matter most. what a life. ;) super grateful and thankful for these and future opportunities that i am being afforded to be with my loved ones. π

Thankfully, rain has cleared the air in the bay area. Had gotten used to the smoke smell almost completely. Excited to get out in nature again.
glad to hear it. still raining here, but it's much needed relief. :) i'm definitely excited to smell the fresh air again!

Also, learned that Android Auto is a dumpster fire of trash compared to Car Play. At least, to Chevy.
kia forte here and android auto is garbage, lol. i only use the default bluetooth when connecting with my mobile. otherwise, for nav, i will use google maps. and i have an old school ipod classic for my music. :)
lil baby waspie hanging out on the lime tree to get away from the cold and rain. i harvested around it a bit but didn't want to disturb, so i will be back later. π #eatatpeepeth

I plan on getting the stuff today and with oven time going to be precious over the next few days I will probably make it today. Will do on the posting it to peepeth. Just warning you ahead of time I'm going to cheat by using a muffin tin for the tart crusts.
hey no worries, i bought some frozen pie crusts to make kabocha pie with recently lol. sometimes we just need to simplify things, as long as we can enjoy it in the end that's all that matters!

The word is that he makes great cinnamon biscuits and Schwarzwalder Kirschtorte, none is kosher, but the protagonists don't really care π And the movies is good, we liked it. cc @cyan As for the crying part, perhaps the bit when she starts using a dough roller before kneading π
ok you had me at kirschtorte. π adding to my watchlist haha. in any case, it seems like an appropriate holiday drama!

The look like brownies. What is the texture of these like?
this recipe actually does taste a bit like brownies, just with a chewier texture and a more subdued chocolate flavor. definitely not as heavy as a brownie, either. :)
Replying to @theoldsparrow (0xd2b45813e53e03bf6bb2cd49b2dd6ba2a46e79e8)
Impressive as always. Are they like little lemon meringue pies or more like tarts with slices of lemon with meringue on top?
they're 3.5 inch tart shells filled with lemon curd and baked til set, then meringued and torched during service. super easy and yummy. πthank you also for the enso!
choco loves watching his favorite series. π #pastrypeep #catsofpeepeth

lemon meringue tarts don't have to be difficult or overdone. i like executing this sort of piping because it is truly classic and is a nice way to "zen out" while at work. π #pastrypeep #eatatpeepeth

playing a bit of catch up here... been making this awesome chocolate butter mochi all month at work. takes me back to my time in HI and is a great glutenless option (not exactly guiltless, though, haha). #pastrypeep #eatatpeepeth

Certainly! It is a pastry filled with firm rice pudding that is flavored with vanilla as well as orange and lemon zest and dusted with powdered sugar.
this sounds very similar to easter ricotta pie, pastiera napoletana. used to make a lot of it at my last gig. the flavors/textures are similar. :) i want to try one of yours... they look perfect for after dinner espresso time!

Lots of smoke in the bay area today. The AQI is the worst it's been in awhile (300+).
same for sacramento/placer county. all schools are closed. fire stations are giving out free masks. really missing that delta breeze right about now.

Oh, is this still the same wildfires burning that the North State Climate Action of the Wintu Audubon Society addressed? https://www.wintuaudubon.org/north-state-climate-action/
it's a new fire that started a few days ago. it was at 18k acres yesterday and is approaching 100k tonight. paradise, CA has been wiped out, pretty much. fire season is year round here now.
