آن‌که در جوانی‌ بیاموزد، آموخته‌اش مانند نقش بر سنگ است و آن‌که در بزرگ‌سالی بیاموزد، مانند نوشتن روی آب باشد.

مَن تَعَلَّمَ فی شَبابِهِ کانَ بِمَنْزِلَةِ الوَشْمِ فی الحَجَرِ، وَمَن تَعَلَّمَ وَهُوَ کبَیرٌ کانَ بِمَنْزِلَةِ الکِتابِ عَلَی وَجْهِ الماءِ.
