I do to as well. I'm not a s fluent on the tech side as some on here. So I am trying to learn as I go. I appreciate your willingness to explain things.
Keep asking questions. I am a year in to the rabbit hole and still #thenewguy
Having a cost to post is great in that it reduces the ROI of spam but blocks ordinary use which ends up with a ghost town.

Nice post, Andrew. Question regarding your dApp option to cover costs; if the is no cost to the user, would that then open up the platform to mass spamming, trolling, etc.; similar to what Twitter is facing?
If Peepeth doesn’t do something like this then the flow of peepers and peeps will slow right down. I want to see Peepeth have broad adoption.

Any front end (or bot network) could do the same (batch peeps) to spam Peepeth right now.
The “New” firehose will either need filtering by the front end or other streams to find new peepers. Peep reputation can come into play (peep #, number of peeps, # verifications).

NoteChain is an app which allow users to write private and public notes on Ethereum Blockchain. A public note can be easily shared with a unique ID. The note can also be protected by a password so only the selected one can see it. https://notechain.org/
Nice. Are you using stateless smart contracts? Gas price is hurting dApp usage right now.

Cooking for kids is great because you can make something one night and they scarf it down. Then you go, "oooohhh, they like it! I'll make that more often" and watch as they turn their noses up the next time.
Joys of parenting.
Sausages (#vegan), fried potato products, bread and sorbet are the staples in our house.

Ouch, man... DeezNuts didn't even make the cut. We are doing something horribly wrong. We like to think of DeezNuts as "jokens"... they roll off the tongue better than "jokecoins" ;) Jon, buddy, grab a Mosquito Badge and you can see what its like to hodl DEEZ in your bag. 💪🌍🌏

We are just peeping from the simulation. Peep peep.
Yes, it is unstoppable microblogging.

2/2 So, if Peepeth ever went down and there was ever a need to retrieve specific peeps based on the time they were actually posted to Peepeth, The actual post time would be lost?
Not lost. There would be a trusted timestamp (when the batch was saved) and an untrusted timestamp in the peep JSON. A different front end should use the trusted timestamp.

I think of the xfiles episode where there was a human size tape worm in the sewer.

Last night, my 5 year old was eating her pork chop and asked "was this made in a factory?" Making progress on the whole foods vs. processed foods front!
The joys of feeding small children.
Factory farm maybe. 🐽🐽🐽
I have a child who is vegan but doesn’t eat vegetables.

Infura has great infrastructure and performance. Thanks to @egalano and team. Loading pics through Peepeth.com takes less bandwidth, because various sizes are saved, but may sometimes be slower now because they're on S3.
Standing on the shoulders of giants.
So many projects use Infura. I use it directly and indirectly every day.

Peep images are loading faster for me through #IPFS (via Peepeth Reader) than from #AWS (via peepeth.com).
Wow. But decentralisation is meant to be slower.

some token is taking up 15%!!! right now. :/ kinda rude! haha. @lion it's weird but i noticed that gas prices were still up the other day even as ETH price was falling. not sure if there is a discernible pattern. would have to observe over a set period of time to be sure.
It’s a faucet/airdrop for NePay tokens.
Give 80% for free and hope that this creates value for the 20% you hold.
Peepeth isn’t twitter.
Lots of cool discussions going on between peepers.

There are a few different burgers around. Though I was happy with a Boca burger year’s ago.
Next is for McDonalds to sell vegan burgers in all their stores.
