It would seem prudent to assume so.

Decentralized social media will allow people to complain about employers without libel or firing concerns
Maybe, but will it allow them to do so anonymously? And if so, is that not then open to abuse? If the employee is identifiable, then they're at risk of being fired. If not, it could be written by some random person with a grudge. Much like Google Reviews are now

Only if he doesn't eat my feet. He does it a lot, he's been outside 3 times. But even if he isn't outside, he's a really sweet kitten 😀
My last cat never went outside for years. Then we moved & she got a big garden. Her hunting instinct took over instantly! It was amazing to watch... 🐈😉

The problem with Gab & Minds - "you can't build a social network that mimics another one... that's why Snap is still here" https://youtu.be/EfM9OdmN5L8?t=386
Interesting talk. The idea of a product having one core feature that it performs very well goes right back to the 70's, to UNIX. But I wouldn't say either Gab or Minds mimic any other network. Born out of the current climate of silencing perhaps, but both have evolved.

My cat wanted to say hi to the world. He was looking at the neighborhood cat, and wanted to go outside with him. So, I took a picture of him for the world to see him! :)
He looks lovely! Do you ever let him go outside?

When I first lived in a hostel most people didn’t have laptops, digital cameras, or even phones. If you wanted to contact someone you got a physical address to their parents house or you could call a hostel and leave a message to get stuck up on a board. Most people didn’t have email addresses.
Times certainly change! Now wi-fi, charging stations & secure storage for laptops, etc, is considered standard. It's strange walking into the common room of a hostel & seeing 20 people all working away on their laptops. Although usually I've only gone in to do the same...😉

This is true. I don't use any facebook services so my only concern about the libra is how it's going to affect actual cryptocurrencies.
Same here and glad to be away from them. It could have a negative impact because of increased government scrutiny. The US, France, India & the G7 are already concerned. So any regulations applied to the FB coin could also apply to all crypto. I guess we'll see...

I lived in London. Cameras everywhere.
Wasn't it the city with the most cameras at one point? Not that it did much to reduce crime...

They're certainly obvious! 😉 Probably meant to be so they act as a deterrent.

This place never fails to make me smile. I waited 40 minutes at the top of a sand dune, getting blasted with sand, in order to take this photo. I saw them way off in the distance and waited for them to get to this point.

How would you feel if there are obvious cameras above your head while commuting? Bangkok’s new skytrains have this thing. I feel insecure and secure at the same time. 🤔
Does it matter that they are obvious or that they are there in the first place? It's common practice in some places, even on buses. Think I've just gotten used to them.

I think Estonia have been making strong progress as well. Then again, Iceland know how to keep bankers in check, so perhaps no surprise they are first! 😉

#unpopularopinion Science has done nothing to improve humanitarianism. It has improved quality of life, but it could be argued that our humanitarianism is actually decreasing. Science so far has been a short term fix. We treat each other the same we did 10,000 years ago.
Science is not a "fix", it is science. Facts and cold, hard logic. It never promised to make anyone more "human". But since we don't live in caves and wander round with spears eating each other, it could be argued there has been some progress in 10,000 years.

Really cool idea, but I see it hasn't been updated in nearly 5 years. I'm wondering if it could be made even more cheaply now. Maybe a smaller device like an adapted version of the Xpos from PundiX, that costs about $200 I think.
