Agree. (When voice messages on Peepeth? 😄)
I would love that. A variation of that idea was floated at #buidl_bali.

Hi
Welcome Alexandr. Love the pic!

Almost ready to roll out Insight credits (which can be gifted or redeemed for a fairly accurate peepsonality test). Excited!

I mainly go by the guidance of Dr. Rhonda Patrick, and her research indicates that anything that must be metabolized negates some benefits. It doesn't matter if it has calories or not. I prefer to not risk losing benefit, so I probably would stick to only water.
Ah, have been meaning to listen to her podcasts. Will ear-peep those before my next fast.
Replying to @jm9k (0x50a12017e3e7cb0949e8b823dce156f83732e192)
I couldn't keep food off my mind during the fast. The oatmeal and chicken probably tasted a lot better since I was so hungry. I didn't go crazy on food at all today, which is probably part of the reason my stomach is still feeling good.
I was the same way. Couldn't steer my mind away from food. My first fast was on a backpacking trip (youth backcountry travel type thing) and I had to leave the group when they cooked, I just lay down looking at the sky trying not to think about food.
The second one wasn't as intense, probably because I was v. low carb before starting.

Similar for me, but solely pull movements. Hands are nicely torn up.
#lkie Have been listening to the Akira / Goggins track to get me fired up for pullups :)

Man, traditional social media is cancer. I can't see how it can be good for anyone. MAYBE if you select who you follow, you can get inspired and pumped up. But me it just slowly saps away at my life, confidence, and creativity. There's no usage limit. Just millions of posts that spawn more posts. There's no real relationship in being one like among thousands. Texting and videochats are significantly better.
+1 for 1:1. Voice messages / emails are good too.

Yes, it was water only.
Would you consider doing an electrolyte drink on your next one? (no sugar, just the actual salts)
My previous fasts (only two multi-day ones) were water only as well but I've heard electrolytes improve the experience, potentially without much downside. Haven't researched it much yet, though.

I had oatmeal and slow cooker chicken. I found out the hard way that I can't have anything that isn't easily digestible after a fast.
Was it everything you dreamed of while fasting?
After ending my last fast I proceeded to eat everything I'd been fantasizing about. It was fun at first, then I just felt very full :) No digestion problems though.

I went to the Renaissance Festival yesterday here in Atlanta. Had a good time. I may have had a few ciders and enjoyed some music. The archery was bad. Arrows all out of wonk and only a 20 pound bow. Traffic was crazy though. Still it was fun.
#lkie Sounds like fun! Sorry you didn't get to test your archery skills.

It does hurt to ask for help because it makes me feel incapable, incompetent, a failure . I’ve asked and asked and feel that nobody cares and that I’m alone again or that I’m not worth anything to contribute to. I am blessed by those who have given. But I’m still short of goal.
You might have to reconsider your approach. Asking for donations is very unlikely to work, but good that you tried something. Can you get any old job until you find something better?
Climbing out of that hole is no small feat. But you can do it. One step at a time.

Not fun, but bearable. One benefit was it saved a bunch of time I usually spent on meals.
I noticed that too, on the one extended fast I've done in recent memory. It was nice to not have to decide what to eat, and I felt like I had all the time in the world. Felt pretty bad though, lol.

When is the perfect time to be there? Never been to Yosemite before. Still on my wanna-go list. ⛅️
I like the fall for hiking, but any season has its benefits.
Going in winter is special. No crowds and the snow is beautiful. I remember driving into the valley at night during winter and seeing the snow-capped peaks illuminated under a bright moon. I stopped the car and everything was still and silent. Amazing experience.

@jm9k if you’re giving away billions of ETH hopefully you can help gofundme.com/jimmylondo or tip ETH here or share the link. I’m having a rough patch that’s been hard to navigate and I just need some mercy.
Hey OneBit. I hope it works out for you; please keep us updated.
However, continuing to ask for money here is unlikely to help your cause and will probably hurt it.
We're here for moral support. Best of luck.

I've started experimenting with toe-to-heel. Definitely an adjustment, but worth the ankle pain reductions. Tough to transition to in the modern world – I'm used to being a counter-cultural weirdo, but only in ways that I can switch off at times:)
Nice. It is hard; walking longer distances on concrete isn't comfortable at first with barefoot shoes.
I think it's a worthwhile experiment though. The orthopedic physician's assistant I met while hiking was saying that plantar fasciitis may be caused by shoes alone.
Anyone at Bay to Breakers today?

I think this is also one of the reasons people have so much fun at certain universities, because the study balances out the play and people have genuine reason to celebrate (like passing tests, completed assignments). I can definitely say that my last day in Georgia after we published the TxBatch MVP (https://vimeo.com/307334369) was spent GENUINELY partying in a way that I couldn't if I hadn't worked & compressed costs/travel into a few days
I don't think I ever celebrated academic wins in college although there was a good amount of memorable celebrating :)
+1 for genuinely celebrating accomplishments. Brings a much different energy to it compared to celebrating for celebration's sake.

...even for just the first story he tells about Derartu Tulu's unlikely win and incredible sportsmanship at the NYC marathon.

My knees (and quite possibly my ankles) are the better for it today. In fact, since switching from conventional running shoes to flat, minimalist footwear in my everyday life in my early twenties, my occasional grimace-inducing back pain went away almost immediately (returns when I walk too far in conventional footwear).

Heavier boots are appropriate in some circumstances, ie where attention can not always be given to foot placement or where speed is essential, as in the military. But for other cases, I'm inclined to wear barefoot-style shoes (even with a heavy pack; I did the 11-mile Kalalau Trail in 5-finger shoes while carrying a week's worth of gear and food).

There are of course some cons of hiking with minimalist footwear. It's slower than with boots or normal running shoes; a fair number of casual hikers passed me on the way down. It may take more energy as your musculature absorbs more impact. Also, with snow cover, I couldn't tell what surface my foot would land on so I proceeded extra cautiously.

and I think boots may be riskier long term, for many applications, because of the tendency to encourage knee-bashing heel strikes and unawareness of foot placement (my companion on the way down from Yosemite falls stumbled several times; we also passed the park ranger I'd met, who'd twisted her knee and was awaiting crutches.

Hiking or backpacking with barefoot-style shoes may seem riskier than with boots, or to require a more mindful style of walking, because you can't stomp around willy-nilly as you can with boots. However, increased awareness comes naturally when un-shoed (try walking barefoot on gravel and see where your attention goes);
