barefoot shoes absorb nothing, so you naturally land on the ball of your foot without locking your knees, taking the shock in your musculature instead of your joints.
Hiking or backpacking with barefoot-style shoes may seem riskier than with boots, or to require a more mindful style of walking, because you can't stomp around willy-nilly as you can with boots. However, increased awareness comes naturally when un-shoed (try walking barefoot on gravel and see where your attention goes);

On yesterday's hike, I wore barefoot-style running shoes. Today, my calves are sore, but I have no joint pain or injuries. Hiking as a teen, I'd wear heavy hiking boots and my knees would ache for days after a significant descent. Boots absorb some shock so you can land on your heel, transferring some of the impact to your joints;

Wanted to share some thoughts about barefoot-style shoes for hiking and everyday life. #bipedalism

El Capitan. There were crowds of people along the valley road with their necks craned, looking at the several climbers on its face. Can you peep them?
A view of Yosemite Falls from the Merced River, where I went for a (brief) swim.
A view of Half Dome on the way down.
That was more than I'd bargained for, so I decided to save El Cap for another day. Instead, I enjoyed my time at the top of the falls, had a leisurely decent while chatting with a fellow hiker, and spent more time in the warm and busy valley.
At the top of Yosemite Falls I met a patrolling park ranger who had camped nearby. She said the trail to El Capitan was covered in over 3 feet of snow and that navigation would have to be by map and compass.
There was more snow as I ascended. I was making fresh tracks.
There was a shortcut, though I was not tempted to take it.
The first 3.5 miles would supposedly be the toughest. Steep switchbacks up to the top of Yosemite Falls.
Early the next morning. My plan was to hike El Capitan.
Bear-resistant food storage locker at the campsite.

The Merced river looked more like a lake in some places.
Water levels were high as it has been a heavy snow year. There was a constant thundering noise in the valley.

One of the tunnels on the way into the valley.
On the way into Yosemite the other day.
Very grateful for a lot of things. Thanks for your help.

Where are you off to? O_O
Yosemite! Just a one day trip but there was a break in the storm and I got a campsite reservation. Recently decided to punctuate life with more #web0 experiences :)

Hey guys. Hope all is well. As of this peep, this is the first in 2 hours.
The peeprate tends to slow on the weekends. Thanks for peepin :)

I’m amazed at all the snow.
Friday (today) was a one-day break in the storm. Was able to get a campsite for Thursday, so went for it.
Felt like winter until halfway into the descent. Then, basically, it was summer again.

Amazing view!
I was lucky as the clouds cleared unexpectedly. I enjoyed it immensely even though I didn’t do the hike I’d planned. Will peep some more pics tomorrow.

Thanks for your answer! I see @bevan probably is hating me because I have the github/peepeth, but I really would like a fully fair Peepeth, even it not being open-source
I do not hate you.

Hi @bevan Does Peepeth converts an uploaded image? I see its hash is different from original IPFS upload. Also, does the enso is a smart-contract?
Hey Daniell, yes the Ensō are saved to the blockchain too. And as @arf said the metadata is indeed stripped.
On the way down. #halfDome #yosemite
Earlier this morning. First one on the trail.

#livepeeping from the top of Yosemite Falls.

I don't think these will survive the car trip. #pearsOfPeepeth

Eating Sicilian blood oranges has suddenly made me want to go to Africa/Middle East...
You could do it! I think there's a ferry to Tunisia from Sicily.

I'm trying a new one today. Ginger tea + coconut cream + honey. 😋
Sounds delicious. How much coconut cream did you use?

Fresh ginger steeped overnight in hot, but not boiling, water. Add the juice of 1/2 lemon and a spoon of honey to serve.
+1. Boiling it for 20 minutes or so works in a pinch, too.

🔥🔥🔥 You know what's better than getting up at 5am? Getting up at 5am and still being able to work past midnight, simply because you have the energy, had a killer workout earlier in the day. And knowing you'll sleep fantastic tonight. Changed @TxBatchCrypto strategy, new strategy is just full-on f!ck it mode, giving away everything possible for free in order to get exposure. Proper product launch coming soon. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SwAgoQ1-0vE
#lkie Congrats on that big decision!

I actually don't know anything about this place and I want a good friend to teach me how use my account!
A few more things:
* Peeps are forever (there's no edit or delete)
* There's just one "like" per day, which is called an Ensō (click the small circle under each peep)
* Consider getting a Mosquito badge: https://peepeth.com/malaria
* Have fun! Let me know if you have any questions.

Aside from needing a dapp browser to use it, Peepeth works a lot like other social networks. The blockchain empowers us and makes the platform more transparent, but Peepeth is really about raising the vibe, both on the web and off. So, keep on peepin' and help shape this forward-thinking community. Glad to have you!
