Looking forward to this book. https://www.scmp.com/lifestyle/arts-culture/article/3002513/history-chinas-internet-examined-great-firewall-china-james
That looks interesting. It would be interesting to hear you peep about your own experiences behind the wall, and your current work.

Welcome Georgia! Wonderful quote. I had to look up Sangharakshita:

Words of wisdom. Although I wonder why he chose negation rather than “courage”. Maybe because one word isn’t a quote? :)
"Courage" -Smoky Mirror
I've heard that there's no low-level support for negation in the brain. The implication is that it's better to positively frame ideas so you don't inadvertently focus on the thing you're trying to avoid. Sounds reasonable but could be overblown.
Happy spring everyone!

... G'morning/evening here--nice, what peepgrades? 😻
Good evening! I'm working on behind-the-scenes improvements for the mobile app, and for web2 users and delegate address functionality, which will be released soon.
Pushing some peepgrades (upgrades) this morning. Hope you're having a good day.

We discussed "leading up the chain" at #buidl_bali I will admit, the concept was foreign to me. I'm not one to generally work **for** a **boss** per se, but working ***with*** others is a whole other thing. It can be exceedingly rewarding. Ramble aside: excellent advice!
#lkie A great book that discusses that topic: Extreme Ownership by Jocko Willink and Leif Babin. They have a chapter devoted to that idea.

Teaching a teenage kid to code: cool. Teaching him to code when there's a language barrier: cool, but more difficult. When he memorizes for loop syntax: cool. Giving him a list of 32k+ baby names and asking him to print them alphabetically, in caps, one per line: it clicks. 😎
Awesome! #lkie

I don't hunt. It's mainly a skill. There are aspects of meditation to it but I've never thought about it like that before. You kind of feel the shot as your aiming so a kind of flow state. Also I use a recurve so you feel the tension in the bow. Decent upper back exercise.
I used to love archery as a kid but never practiced seriously. I recently read Zen and the Art of Archery (short and available for free online), which is where I learned it can be used as a meditative exercise.
Do archers develop muscle imbalances?

I should clarify, that's what I mean by environment. The people and objects that you live around. We need more words for this kind of thing! 'Community'/'tribe' sounds weird, 'group' is inspecific, 'ecology' is too clinical. But whatever it is, it's powerful.
Agreed. Important to cultivate one's physical/social/media "terroir".

I think that, more than your environment, the people you choose to surround yourself with have a massive impact on who you become. Whether it is your words or your worlds, it is important to choose very carefully.
#lkie I would add that what books and media we consume matters a great deal, too.
Thanks for peepin, everyone 🙏

How can #Peepeth avoid 3rd parties to study (and sell) usage of the network? Public data on #blockchain are subject to this kind of things unfortunately.
Thanks for bringing this up. Peepeth data is public, so it's up for grabs. Peepeth should educate people more about what that means.

Tried to do a little archery practice just now but my only arrow rest partially broke while I shooting my first ten arrows. Winter wear I guess. I bought a pack of five and should be here in a couple of days. Did well knocking the rust off though.
#lkie I'd love to take up archery. Do you enjoy it as a sport, a skill, or a meditation? Or some combo of the above.

Good morning Peepsters. So, given there was a bit of downtime yesterday when #peepeth went offline, I'm wondering if there's some status page where we can monitor in the future or get details about #outages? Maybe a question for you wizards, @bevan or @abcoathup?
There is not, but thanks for suggesting it. The Discord page is a good resource for real-time info (accessible by clicking the Feedback button).

Congratulations! You and @hannah are inspiring me to start painting.
Also, on the way back from Bali I watched two movies about Van Gogh which made me consider at least sketching more. Loving Vincent is animated in the style of Van Gogh; beautiful. At Eternity's Gate with Willem Dafoe was good too. VG started painting at 28; only sold 1 when alive

I recently took up art (well, slapping paint about some small canvases) as a form of therapy. All abstract, as I can't do likenesses of anything..... I've even managed to sell one on Etsy, which was badass!
Congratulations! You and @hannah are inspiring me to start painting.

Appreciate it, however in hindsight I should have held off posting that, collected my thoughts a bit better. My bad. I'll learn from it. I think my main takeaway now is, what we read matters, what we write matters.
The message I got was that the capability for evil is in all of us. I agree. Reflecting deeply on how none of us are exceptions is an important step towards understanding and progress.

Hey peeps, I have a proposal to incentivize waste reduction by weighing general waste and charging rate payers on a per kg basis for the general waste. Read more at https://iwr-wasteless.github.io/iwr/. Public support for the idea is necessary for trialing with a local council!
That's an interesting idea.
I wonder if simply issuing smaller waste containers could also have an impact. I've noticed they're smaller in Germany (at least where I was) which made me think more about waste.

You could pit and scoop an avocado into the bag, squish it around, and have a bag guacamole sandwich. I don't know why I find that so funny. :D

Holding you to it! @bevan - would be cool to stake some $ on digital "off" days. If you fail, you lose your stake.
