Frustrating when stuff doesn’t work as it should.
What’s that?

I've gained a lot of appreciation for hard rock over the last year. Metal is an acquired taste, like Latin music & rap & funk. I thank everyone who introduced me to it.
"Sometimes the questions are complicated and the answers are simple." —Dr. Seuss
Why is the word "fuck" a swear word, anyway? It's so versatile, so simple, and so satisfying to hear - it doesn't even sound crude, in fact, if it wasn't considered vulgar I could see it being a word of honor, of gravitas

I'm enjoying the wind and the rain here, after a very dry summer. I can't wait to see my lawn lushy green again! :)
Nice - or as we say in New Zealand, beaut!

That sounds really nice. It's about the same temperature here. I just had dinner and am settling into another coding session. Also grateful for those in my life, not least all of the peepers.
Nice. Love those post-dinner coding sessions. Sometimes the right mix of quiet roads, a well-cooked meal with good brain food/protein, and a relaxed body works wonders.

It’s chilly in Melbourne this morning. Busy day ahead.
Hope you had a good day @abcoathup

Have you tried to get in touch with smaller/budding exchanges? They could potentially use TxBatch to save on personnel/staffing...
That might be a good approach... we could focus on less "power-user tool" and more "no training required, familiar to crypto newbies"

Still, trying hard to find a tool that addresses an actual pain point for people. Sales for TxBatch have been a lot slower than I expected. General message we're getting is "yep we have this problem, but only when we're busy, and we're not busy"
'sup?
Posting this peep for posterity so that future generations can remember one of the last true examples of quality well-researched & accurately-tested fact-based journalism.

I wonder how posterity will look back at our funny engineering quirks.

Just fixed. Clear your DNS cache to be safe @jm9k? For #AWS nerds that want to know why it happened: - I set up a beta us-east-1 SSL certificate (in this case our API timbo.txbatch.com could be verified 'as' txbatch.com) - But 'Timbo' is in us-west-2, and can't 'see' the cert

Ah, damn! Thanks for letting me know. It seems to be something with the SSL certificate - I just issued a new one that might be screwing with it...

but good to know our cheeky error message came up ;)

Hey Peepeth, we just launched the redesign of the TxBatch site over at https://txbatch.com/. Can anyone tell me if you have any SSL certificate errors or funny behaviour? Want to get it pixel-perfect before launch in ~2 weeks.
hm, should get a social share image up & going

I’m tempted to say there’s more specialization (to cross threads from Cent), but I don’t know if that’s true: I see more explicit generalist positions in programming/development than ever. Engineering management has specialized more though, which has changed how I see my skills
Specialisation is good for branding, you want your customer (including your employer) to have a definite concept of you and the help you provide them. Also I don't think true generalists exist, no such thing as an engineer who can do everything.

I believe so! Fortunately, this isn’t my first rodeo, so I stay pretty motivated. It is interesting how much faster tech appears to be accelerating from the perspective of job-seekers though. There’s more competition, but also way more automation now, and more to learn everyday
If you want a hand finding something to specialise in & getting more job offers I can help - https://keybase.io/JamesScaur https://linkedin.com/in/jamesscaur

You can become indispensable just by learning stuff that no one will be able to automate. Like empathy, listening, expert-level skill at one specific thing that can/does/will hold a lot of responsibility, sales, detecting & helping people achieve their aims
Man we live in a golden age of music. Not 60s/70s level maybe, but still, the distribution and intermixing of music nowadays particularly hip-hop & r&b is awesome. https://youtu.be/Ec3LoKpGJxY

6.)I built up a wall because I’ve always been afraid of getting hurt when ppl bail on me. I’m trying to fix it, over come it. But I need help with $300 for what I need left to cover rent. Hopefully I’ll find work soon. I know I can. Just need help and some time till I do.

5.)I don’t want government benefits. I’ve had over 40 jobs since 2007. I’ll do 40 more before I ever do that. But why is it so hard for anyone to simply get help? Why does society have to be so cruel? It hurts. Sure I don’t have friends. I shun everyone away, I trust nobody.
There's no shame in getting help if it's available to you. There's no glory in being broke.

I’ve been applying for consistent work for over a year. I’ve worked as a software developer for the better part of a decade, and for some impressive brands. I have a lot of useful skills, but I don’t have a degree or a network, so getting a job still isn’t as easy as people think
A degree or network doesn't need to be there, you just need to be likeable and committed to serving others needs. Eventually your experience becomes your degree and your network naturally grows.

Could you expand on this part? "In many ways we're the opposite to places like California, USA - who have consumerism and self-promotion in place of our DIY attitude and humility."
I haven't ever been to the states, so in retrospect I can't really a blanket statement like that.
But the majority of Americans I've met have been Californians, and what I always admire about them is their self-confidence. Also I admire America's general focus on the customer.
