Does anyone know what the Brave Helper process does? Its hogging up Memory in macOS ?
Yep. *That* is what it does. 🤣
You're on the /CPU/ tab though... so are we talking memory or CPU? I get the high CPU usage occasionally on Linux as well. Normally minimizing the browser remedies the situation - which makes me think it has something to do with page rendering...

@bevan I cannot visit many friend's page. It always showed me "Can not find that page". I found this yesterday evening and now even worse. I tested on my mobile and on my computer, both the same. I don't think @Kumaran would mute me cause he's a really gentleman. :)
I am having the same issue. I have emailed @Bevan about it.

Hi there! You got that right, ETHBerlin's on Peepeth! Our Twitter is still active but original content will be created here too. For the blockchain, in the blockchain. Stay tuned!
Oh. That's right Peeple. We are all /in/ the blockchain - not on.
Blockchain is a lifestyle, a mindset, a vision for the future...
(OK - and some relatively complex open source code backed by some impressive theories and equations.)
Point is: this is the blockchain. You're in.

Yes... I was just wondering, it can be so easy to lose my entire identity with a mistake. The security is somehow centralized because everything depends on our mnemonic, private key, etc..
Ideally, you would be able to use a hardware wallet for everything - and maybe have a copy or two of that hardware wallet.
Of course, if someone gets access to the seed words.. then you have a big problem. Can't wait to see what @Bevan is cooking up on that front.

This is an issue for dApps broadly. I think @Bevan is working on an additional layer of security...

Regarding #2, it's a good question if only because 'exploitation' is a loaded word and highly subjective. I could argue that I allow myself to be exploited by working for someone; they are using me, after all. But I have a choice. What about those who have no choice?
The rest of the cryptosphere is bemoaning the price fluctuations - but our dear @d2r2 and @JamesScaur are pondering aspects of the modern human condition.
And /this/ is exactly why the world needs Peepeth. Not just because it's on a bockchain - but because "the values platform".

The commentary about Free Speech vs. InfoWars is a troubling reminder that most people don't appear to know that the US Constitution protects people from speech blocking measures of the government, not companies. Second, to say that shit bag doesn't have a platform ignores (1/2)
Yes, he's disgusting. For me the issue isn't who it *happens* to - it's who get's to press the *mute* buttons for the globe. The reality is that a handful of people can control what a large percentage of the world encounters online.
I want 7.6 BILLION mute buttons, not a handful

I'll give it another try, just because it's disruptive, but I didn't like the UI the first time :)
The next version will have a more "traditional" UI - more like Chrome, from what I've read.
I can deal with less than stellar UI as long as the mission is admirable and the devs are passionate. I genuinely hope they succeed.

Yeah, they have brainwashing in the USA too... both countries probably think they are doing their youth some kind of favor.
Independent thinkers just have to keep trailblazing long enough for everyone else to notice that there is another path...

Have modified my translation this morning. Now I know how fresh Peepeth is, and I really like Peepeth's new style. By the way, I've found some language strings are missed. I guess I could directly add them to the English source, right?
Yes. You can edit the English string list. Be sure to do it by either adding a full row or adding to the end of the list. No dragging/dropping the strings... Or the lines won't match with the translations.
Thank you!

I bet it's brilliant - but I just got deep into Brave browser and have to give it some time before considering another switch. What makes Vivaldi special to you?
Brave is far more disruptive (and, if their model is successful, beneficial for the structure of the internet).
Vivaldi is just a pleasure to use when you're doing research. Tons of tab management features, note taking built in, mouse rocker support...

Radicalizing people for advertising money is not only evil but a danger to our future survival. It's not just Jones, also antivaxers, flatearters, all sorts of cults, porn&gore animations on YTkids, so pretty much all it's becoming more harmful than helpful. What is the answer?Dk
Decentralized living. Farms. Parenting. Hiking. Camping. Painting. Using tech to make things, not just consume them.
And the Brave browser, of course.
A seriously difficult question and an unpleasant reality. I don't mean to trivialize it.

It's not a laughing matter, but your description is quite picturesque and funny 😁 Joking aside, won't they ultimately shut down Peepeth if they think it's bad influence? The only alternative then would be to use another front-end, if it exists.
It will exist. If Peepeth gets to the point where a government is shutting it down / blocking it intentionally - then it will have absolutely succeeded.
As it continues to grow and Bevan formalizes more of the back end interactions - there will be many front ends. No doubt.

Alex Jones got banned from Apple, Youtube, Facebook, Spotify in 12 hours. Big tech companies are now the judges of what is free-speech or not.
This is very dystopian, in my view. Not because of who he is or what he says - the "village crazy" he may well be... but because it could happen to anyone.
@cyan what if he can't find a web host or an ISP... would you be concerned then? Small steps in the wrong direction, imho.

I don't think they'll ultimately block Peepeth, they'll leave a chance for their children, who are always a group of naughty ones. I have to use VPN everyday but I know if they do wanna block me, VPN would be useless.
