The more the merrier! especially with something as confusing as gas. You never know which tidbits will make it 'click' for which people.
You know, @tay, there's no wonder you're famous. Love your attitude.

After being banned on Twitter for calling out scammers, I think I will call this place my home!
@Lewis. Please. Call out scammers here if there are ever any.
The best part is, real scammers cannot delete things on the blockchain and feign innocence.
Welcome.

This look vaguely familiar.
Does it? Naaaaah....
Only the frontend I assure you, the backend is brand new - unlike anything that has ever been possible before.
Welcome!

Thoughtful points! I don’t make any kind of actual prediction in my bit regarding the two. You’re right that “competitors” may be more clickbait than truth; “alternatives” might prove truer but sounds awfully boring, doesn’t it:)?
It does. Sadly.
Looking forward to reading more from you. Thank you for the work you're doing. I love it when philosophers write about tech!

Swear I want to go to law school to specialize in smart contracts and DAOs! I think the more interesting question is what happens when a decentralized application infringes on one...Who do you sue?!
Maybe the smart contracts that are most used will have to stake something in a court smart contract ... ?
... Or maybe we are somehow going to move beyond patents for software, smart contracts, and blockchains? ...
Oops, wondered back outside of reality again.

The first #cryptocurrency in this 10-part series was one I needed to research more: #RSK (#RootStock), whose #BTC hybrid sidechains might challenge #Ethereum https://blog.icoalert.com/the-ethereum-competitors-ep-1-rsk-rootstock-d8e416466b21
Thanks for sharing! Looking forward to reading this and comparing it to what I thought about RSK last I wrote about it:

This is a good example of why distributed is not necessarily decentralized (and why the ancient centralized - distributed picture floating around is useless): https://torrentfreak.com/russia-blocks-100s-of-google-domains-to-shutdown-encrypted-chat-app-180412/

Are we all brands? 🤔

Thank you. It's why I left most online communities around crypto entirely. Lots of talk of getting rich, and zero action on the development side. I want to learn about GO, Solidity, IPFS. This DAPP literally perked me up, I saw profiles with projects! This is a pretty site BTW.
The site /is/ pretty, @bevan must be something like a stickler for details.
The community is beautiful and interesting. It's fun to be involved with the project (as a peeper). Hope the open backend architecture will keep things in the space interesting.

I got lucky and stumbled here early. No reason to be so extreme when clearly I'm just one of you. I have my entire life savings poured into crypto. I'm fully invested.
I'm not trying to be extreme - I'm trying to be sincere.
You and I are in the same boat, actually. Both trying to start a brand in the crypto space. I take you on your word that you are passionate about the space. Just trying to help out, honestly.
All the best.

I'm going to agree with @shortcut on this one. @Cryptocurrency - currently this is a group of enthusiasts excited about tech. Price is cool too, but presentation is important. Lots to discuss around here.

.@bevan Since the account URLs are simply "peepeth.com/handle", what will happen once somebody registers @stats, @how or @about since these pages already link to other resources? (Ex. "peepeth.com/about" already links to a resource but should then link to the user.)
Excellent issue to bring up! I'm thinking reserved pages will need special characters since those are blocked in usernames.
Or a disambiguation page? yuk.

@bevan I'm loving Peepeth so far- what a great way to use Ethereum every day! Just curious: any thoughts on increasing the amount of Enso that can be offered from once per day to maybe two or three times today? I find I'm getting gun shy with just one Enso per day.
What if making you gun shy is the intention?
I do find myself waiting until midnight to give it out...
What are everyone's thoughts on this?

It’s an incentive to be first. Enjoy the explosion.
It's only an incentive until no invites are required. Then a bot will sit on a thousand names a day. And everyone else will have to pick names with numbers...
I hope it doesn't get that bad. Oh well, it is what it is! But reservation didn't seem "evil" to me at all.

You really think I have to tell people that I'm not Jack Dorsey? I never ever made such a statement and nothing on my profile suggests it.
LOL! No! They just made it seem like "jack" was reserved. A quick look at your profile made it look like you actively picked "jvck" - I was just looking to confirm that, to quell the concerns of "name reservations" Not about your identity or "jack anybody". Sorry for confusion.

just setting up my Peepeth. come for the blockchain, stay for the lack of an algorithmic feed?
When all the basics are bug-free --- then the fun stuff starts! Including more alt frontends and curation techniques. You're so early.

This is a huge relief. People selling handles would be a good problem to have. Kudos to @Bevan for his obvious keenness for free markets. Crypto-Anarchy may thrive here as a result if you stay the course.
If we're in to free markets and all that jazz, with no regulations or rules... It seems rather arbitrary to hate on insider trading or makers having first dibs on what their platforms may make valuable - and to actually forbid *that* alone.
I don't follow the logic, tbh.

I'll go on record saying I am strongly against that decision.
In my mind it is no more noble to let a random guy on the internet squat on a thousand names than it is to let the platform itself use them for growth.
Replying to @flygoing (0xec3281124d4c2fca8a88e3076c1e7749cfecb7f2)
Usernames do have to be unique, though. And from the numbering, it looks like @jvck actually registered before @jack
It looks like "jvck" is used for his online identity elsewhere, from his profile... @jvck, better clear it up for the concerned citizens!
Replying to @balibebas (0x1f1c2bcae0505db4fb9c51305af8baa976c26af4)
Dumpster fires, for better or worse, are likely closer to what #freespeech looks like than actual dumpster fires. That said, I won’t touch Gab until they have an app in the App Store. Unless of course I find out handles have been reserved on Peepeth.
Your definition of reserved needs to be more clearly defined, imho.
I am absolutely certain names will be squatted on because of market incentives and the ability to xfer among addresses. Don't hold that inevitable squatting behavior against the platform. @Bevan is against it.

Replying to @spence (0x29b1b943102bf57cd63acf0be8582602297cb64e)
I think it's just that if you decide to reserve one or a couple, it's hard to find where you draw the line. What names are more important than other to reserve, etc. It's a tough call.
It is def a tough call. I would have done it differently, but @Bevan made the call - not happening. lol So that should address @balibebas' concern...
