Hello
Hi Ge Yan, how's it going?
Another pic from the French Trail yesterday. Very lucky to live near such a park. #oakland

Found an unopened physalis (Cape Gooseberry) from last season. The fruit stayed inside its paper-like wrapping, and decomposed into this beautiful result: nothing left but a mesh cage and seeds. Nature is awesome--I thought it was too cool to not share! #gardening 😻
A very cool find. Thanks for sharing!
Peeped some interesting urban gardens while running errands today.
Time for burpees. Hope your Monday is going well.

I didn’t do enough exploring while I lived in Oakland. What area is this?
This is in Redwood Regional Park pretty close to Skyline Gate parking area. Three trails start from there. Two ridge trails and one that goes into a valley with lots of redwoods (where I walked today).

I expected this to be from the Onion, but nope...sausages it is then. Do you think a committee debated what type of meat product to use? Maybe it’s a way to subsidize Australia’s failing sausage industry. Is Spam too expensive to import? You wouldn’t even have to poison it
It does seem like an unlikely solution. Wondering what the unintended consequences will be.

Twitter verification says Tweetdeck doesn’t work. How about other clients? Using only Tweetbot for Twitter, can’t be bothered to login on web.
If they don’t modify or shorten links it should still work. Haven’t tried other clients.

Why does peepeth keep suggesting inactive people to follow? Why should I follow someone who hasn‘t posted for 6 months? This is just bad.
Hey Sascha- good feedback. About time that was fixed.

Given our current size it’s still early enough to become an OG on Peepeth. Show up and Peep everyday. That’s what I do.
Way early enough to become an OP. Peepeth is just getting started. There’s a lot of room to help shape the culture and connect with cool people.

How long do you spend on your phone per day? Going to cut back to 1 hour and see what happens.
This experiment turned out well. Despite going over 1 hour on most days, I still cut out a lot of non-essential phone use and was overall more mindful of my bright rectangle use.

Thank you @Bevan. What a thoughtful yam. 🍠
A noble tuber indeed. Any new finds on your end?
I learned that if you go to the local grocery when it opens, there's a section for super cheap "old" produce. Picked up 4lbs of strawberries for under 4USD. #runwayExtended

Oh yeah, big tip for that! Find people *before* you go who will introduce you to others living there. Make absolutely sure you have at least 2-3 expats or somewhat-peers who you will be able to occasionally break bread with, go on escapades, and talk casually with. Then = 🏡🌐
Agreed. Have you found many other expats in Sicily? Do many Sicilians speak English?

Today was a couple miles on the treadmill, then 22HC Cardio, then a cold start shower.
Nice. The constant walking (treadmill desk) must be really good for overall health. Do you walk barefoot on it?

Bench, curls, and rows. Thinking about getting a pull up bar I can hang in my doorway.

Anyone can draw with time and practice! If you're looking to get started with digital art, then medibang is a great program to use. It's completely free, and the interface is very straightforward. Once you've developed a style, everything comes naturally through muscle memory.
Thanks for the suggestion. Will check out medibang when I get a chance. @hannah

I want to sell the onions now :)
Maybe I’ll open up a vegetable store on Peepeth. Come here for community and onions. Sorry to those on a FODMAP diet.

I like it so much I ordered 10 lbs. I could always use award winning vidalias in my cooking.
#lkie Cool, let us know how they are. I’ve only cooked with vidalias once or twice, probably by accident, believing they were just like other onions. Interesting that they can apparently be eaten like an apple.

It finally happened. I'm actually getting jaded with travelling and constantly having to speak a different language / getting misunderstood. Work and mundanity balances out play and curiosity.
Props for actually learning and speaking local languages. That’s exceptionally rare as I’m sure you’ve seen.
What gets to me first is the lack of a stable community, however small, while on the road / abroad somewhere. Finding that makes a place feel more like home.

When you are camping, always leave your food (and beer) locked safely in your car. We came across some young folk who were under the influence and had left all their food out and couldn’t work out why a wombat was in their tent (eating). We gently shooed the wombat away.

Now there's an idea! I'll have to try it with avocado now. Thinking about also putting it on my tacos. I hope this blend helps with recovery as ginger and garlic are supposed to help with that.
I love sriracha with avocado.
I’ve heard good things about the health effects of raw garlic. I like to nibble at it while cooking and sometimes will down a clove with water. Have also been trying to use more ginger; ginger tea is really nice (just boiling chopped ginger).

New sauce I just tried: teaspoon minced garlic, tablespoon ground ginger, and 2 tablespoons sriracha. The ginger burn and the pepper burn combine for a compounding of heat that has my eyes watering so be forewarned. But the flavor is amazing. Will put on chicken tenderloin again.
It’s really good! Love the various kinds of heat (notably from the raw garlic).
