Regarding #2, it's a good question if only because 'exploitation' is a loaded word and highly subjective. I could argue that I allow myself to be exploited by working for someone; they are using me, after all. But I have a choice. What about those who have no choice?
Like, sure, there's some extreme situations where people are nutrient deprived, surrounded by a culture that is contorting what options they think they have. But 99.999% of cases people have a choice of what they do. It's usually fear that keeps them mentally trapped. /2

Agree re: loaded term. Personally I don't like the word's connotations because even though I have seen, experienced, or can imagine people being manipulated, I still believe there's a fundamental power of choice. Even if those choices are limited & are only internal emotions.. /1

Ah nice. Great pic!
Need to get through a lot of email? Trust @Baydin not to steal your emails? then https://emailga.me/ is for you tonight, my friend.

I love covers of songs that are distinctly different to the original, but make for equally great listening in separate situations. Case in point @nick_murphy:

All ideas / art for a new error page welcome :)
A photo of the Peepeth penguin sitting on a melting block of ice saying "something's going wrong" and a link to donate to an organisation promoting geoengineering research, climate change awareness, etc?
500/404 error pages as site features are one of my favorite things...

I had literally zero interest in the Gawker takedown before the last 6 months but now with the release of @ryanholiday's #Conspiracy and @nntaleb's appendix on Gawker and #skininthegame with journalism I'm hyped to learn all about it http://bit.ly/FactsAreTrueNewsIsFake
You know what's weird?
Seriously considering that Peepeth may be one of the platforms that unseat/take a big share from centralized social media.
How will all these early peeps compare?

Room all set up. $130 total, ordered online, already saving money/time in product choice (comforter + bamboo pillow + mattress protector = clean bed for longer & less washing) Now to-do: Cover my room with #RAS self reminders, become a #couchsurfing host & make morning routine.
#RAS = reticular activation system. One of the best lifehacks I’ve ever taken up. Surround yourself with desired information in regularly visited areas, and it’ll get subconsciously programmed into you.

Really holding out hope for a Peepeth like solution to IG/FB similar. The Activity Pub (Mastodon/Friendica/Diaspora/etc) do good at the removing of centralization, but don't aid in the privatization.
Yeah. Regarding Instagram, I have been considering signing back up again simply for being able to follow my friends lives. Tradeoffs.....
less social media = more productivity, but blind to your friends lives. (Which is arguably not that bad but hey)

I told one of my friends that this (the trust browser) was the most dangerous app I have ever used. I feel like I spend almost as much time thinking about/trying to wrap my mind around the implications of it (tbh even just understanding it fully) as I do using it. #no_more_work
Dangerous?

And it's in that short term that the exploitation harms people. But I could argue that exploitation is a human condition. Can we really overcome it? Can we evolve out of it? I'm undecided. Technology is great, but so far it has done little or nothing to decrease exploitation.
1. Short term as well. If you find ways to cooperate with your environment & the people in it - get them to help you and you to help them - you gain a lot more than pure exploitation.
2. Does everyone exploited get harmed? What is harm? What is the opposite of exploitation?

Having switched from FB to IG exclusively for a few months for friends and family contact, I note that IG is now doing what annoyed me most about FB. Should not be suprised given same company but still. Now I need a good IG replacement. Pixel.social won't cut it, yet. Others?
Could always try WhatsApp... nice features for sharing photos, stories... but yeah, same company

Agreed. I've worked in education all of my adult life (after 30 that is, when I finally gave up trying to be 17.) As such, I've worked for others, under some really shitty conditions and for low pay. But, my interaction with people is what drives me. That and early crypto buys.
Education? interesting, care to share more?

@peepethApp's main feature and unique value for me is that peeps cost something, and you own what you post. The blockchain/crypto aspect is just infrastructure.
It's the social network for people with #skininthegame.

When you're in a family and everyone say that's a selfish behavior, then you're really in a different world. I mean when you're living in there, you might have no choice actually. Though we know there're always some special cases.

Unfortunately. I'm optimistic though... exploiting others is inefficient compared to working with them, and eventually the latter will win out... imo
