I see your point, but it reflects a very narrow range of situations. People do shit jobs all the time just to pay rent. Hunger and fear of homelessness supplants dreams.
Yes, agree completely. Maslow's hierachy. I've seen firsthand how lack of money and fear for survival destroys people's dreams & ambitions.
My point was that it's possible to find fulfillment while being employed by someone. It's a choice in whatever situation you're in...

While all of that is probably true - having the time to consider your dreams and where they fit into the picture means that you're probably doing pretty well to begin with. I hope a growing proportion of the world gets to reflect on such things. 🖖
Agree 100%. This is part of why I'm so motivated to increase relative incomes. More money + less time worked = more people get to take care of their survival + emotional +psychological needs & focus on greater things.

for the responsibility/consequences, then no worries - employment is a great way to slot into an existing machine and make something awesome. “Build your own dreams, or someone else will hire you to build theirs.” is a little misleading - not everyone can build theirs well... /2
and building someone else's dream doesn't have to be mutually exclusive to your own... /3

Reminds me of a narrative I've been exploring recently. Jobs are simply a way to outsource responsibility for your productivity/impact/value. Businesses are machines that enable people to make/do cool shit. If you don't get a high off fiddling with the machine, or aren't ready /1

Haha, Kiwis are welcomed to the club of many Balkan countries that boast with this kind of creativity. I wasn't familiar with the expression, so I dug a bit and LMAO when I read this example 😂 http://www.mondaq.com/NewZealand/x/292020
Huh, hadn't ever seen that article and it raises some good points... no. 8 is generally considered a good thing but for sure comes with disadvantages... thanks...

Here's a first idea for pooling.. I'll pool with others to pay that Bro is not used in a feature name 😅 It evokes hearing a specific type of people (ab)using it as a sentence fillers way too often.
Good point...

Settled. I am now calling a shared peep a #sheep. As a proud New Zealander there is no other option.

This article (https://outline.com/fUtUz7) makes me all the more committed to migrating my journals. It'll be a good learning experience: I'm constantly growing, & constantly learning that I'm wrong about things. I could do with a reminder to be drop my certainty/ego and say less…
