A tornado just passed me by within a quarter of a mile. No damage but nothing gets the heart pounding like uncertain death to wake you up.
Wowsers. Any photos?

I am also curious to know how one gets around the need to be in contact with friends and family that do not yet use alternative platforms?
Yeah I think this is very hard if you live away from your closest friends/family. For me, I try to get everyone's WhatsApp number, and if I see they have iMessage or Telegram use that, and if they have Signal, use that.
I like how Southern Euro countries and Georgia toast with a meaning of “to our health”. English is nice as well - cheers (to our joy), but ‘health’ implies an intent to use the occasion to connect/relax ie become healthier people

The meaning of your life which defines your lifestyle changes every time when a big life event occurs.
I like how you link meaning of life as a personal thing, a thing that changes, and also a thing that defines our lifestyle

Learning to slow down, be cautious, to appreciate the small things, be gentle with yourself - they're hard to do until you experience the consequences of their opposites.
Part of the reason I enjoy hanging out with people older than I am is also that mid 20s guys mostly want to avoid subjects that are uncomfortable/unpleasant - in particular, death. Seems like everyone ignores the possibility of death/disability until they're 40 and suddenly boom

*with. But I counter with "experience is wasted on the elderly". I try to call my grandparents as much as possible to absorb their life learnings but I know no matter what, I'm going to miss some and learn them myself.

I agree the people who say "youth is wasted on the young". Yes. If you're young you have tons of energy, can be reckless with very little consequence, have little to lose, and have thing that older people pay $$$$$ for (sex drive, hair, incredibly easy to get fit)

I wonder why there’s such a trend of meat only diets? Apparently it’s good for anti-immune disorders which seems odd to consider - wouldn’t animals be more likely to have hormones/pollutants?
Could be a sign of the times, our diets are so processed that’s animal feed is better
I love people... specifically, the type of people that you can’t help but be uplifted by when you’re around them. The people that make you better simply by hanging around them. Excellent.

Useful #CustomerService insight from chrisseaton on Hacker News:
> why on earth should Twitter be an official support channel for a business?
The same reason you do anything - they’ll take their business elsewhere unless you provide service and support in the way they want it.
Yet another reason true (and self-sovereign) digital identity is needed. Just imagine something like Reviews.io or Trustpilot, but it's on every site & product, and when you endorse something you're held accountable to it.

Me and you can talk about a movie... Titanic... great movie, and one guy goes [I hated it]... you don't even know what they're talking about, but you just want to hop on the negative train. It's not cool to be positive, it's not cool to be happy" https://youtu.be/qvzW_CJTlmM

+1 on being mindful about what is being sent/posted regardless. @scaur made some good posts on the topic a few weeks ago. What makes BC and IPFS very disruptive compared to current SM is that there are bigger social/personal responsibilities attached to their usage. Tough shift.
Yeah one of the major things I LOVE about crypto is the potential for a rise in accountability. It's a culture change for sure. But I believe when we all have skin in the game, witch-hunts will become less common, mutual trust will rise, and we'll achieve more because of that.

Nice. Me too, in the form of dips and burpees. Glad to have taken up the latter (started doing them regularly in Bali) as they can be done almost anywhere and don’t take much time (doing a fixed number for time).
Nice. My arms are maxed out now. Excellent workout, I was whimpering involuntarily by the end and couldn’t do a single push-up. My shoulders are gonna feel like masochistic heaven tomorrow.

#lkie Glad it’s working out! I’d gladly make that trade. What are some typical meals?
Pasta with zucchini
Pasta with onion and carrot
Pasta with sugo (tomato sauce)
Combine with tuna or ground beef...
And of course. Carbonara.

Would have loved to have seen it, but nothing lasts forever... I’m curious how reactions will be. Hopefully better than when Christchurch had it’s cathedral (on a much smaller historic scale) damaged - it resulted in a lot ogni insighting between “restorers” and “rebuilders”

Ah yes, the beautiful song of sirens, football games, and bass-blasting cars
My relationship with my Italian roommates is getting along swimmingly. They like to cook, I like to eat.
(In return I do the dishes, but that works in my favour too because it provides opportunities to learn Italian)

Is there anything more Italian than drinking espresso out of a repurposed Nutella has?
