Hi James, I have a colleague in Russia who might be able to shed some light. Her name is Victoria, the managing director of Lex Futurus Group. I'll ask.
Awesome, thanks @lawyer!

Android 2.3.6?
Not sure. It's the version of Android with uninstallable Yahoo search, a defunct "AllShare" application, and an impossible-to-load Google Market (precursor to Play Store?)

Bigger bottles? Could you get a giant water cooler bottle?
That would be ideal but I'd still need the source. Considering boiling water but that's gonna be pretty inefficient and I might screw it up.
(For posterity: yes, I realise that's a silly thing to say considering how inefficient creating plastic and bottling/shipping water is)

Do people use filters there?
Not sure. Typically I see people's apartments full of crates of 2L water bottles.

#lkie I was working with something similar for a few weeks last year.
Still works well!
Day 5 in Sicily. I have:
• eaten more food in the past 2 nights than I thought possible, thanks to the insistence of my Sicilian friend's mother
• learned a smattering of the huge range of Sicilian exclamations/swears
• experienced 4 Sicilians rolling their "R" in unison at me

This baby. The perfect tester for a Peepeth light reader.

Is the tap water not drinkable?
Yep. I hate plastic but unfortunately haven’t found reusable sources of safe drinking water :(

Potato refers to poor quality like it makes you look lumpy like a potato.
Huh, I didn’t know that, I thought it just referred to low quality specs.
Heard it back in my web dev days, people would complain about the speed of their WordPress sites and the typical reason was that they chose a cheap server AKA one with the “computing power of a potato”

That's awesome James, must be really exciting times! All you need in life: roof, bed, water and a ton of strawberries! 🍓🐧 Good luck settling in, looks like you're well on your way!
Absolutely agree. Immersion is great for language learning too. Io imparo italiano molto veloce (I’m learning Italian very fast)

It is indeed but I usually just go to open gym (I’d like to do more CF workouts though).
Ah yeah, nice. CrossFit is a little out of my budget right now, but I'll certainly be doing it in the future - have tried multiple times in Denmark, was marvellously effective.

I will definitely check it out, although I'm specifically interested in blockchain dapps, as I'm trying to learn more about the technology and the application of it. I'd also like to land a Dapp developer contract to gain come hands on experience. BTW: this community is awesome!

I am waiting for pixelfed to implement the import from instagram (I left that network one year ago and I would like to migrate everything).
Instagram sucks at export, I left as well and had to manually write a userscript to get the images off the page. Worst of all, they never had a consistent place of storage. Tagged photos, multi-photo sets, single photos, videos - they all showed up differently...

Yet, thanks to Jordan, who reverse-engineered Samsung's default Windows-only USB tether method to make it work on OSX, I'm able to enjoy a reasonable internet connection on my MacBook. Strong contender for the best $25 I've ever spent.
Now it's time to hack it and install Arch, hey?

Why? My iPhone finally died (it was on it's last legs, pic attached), forcing me to use my $25 burner phone - one of these babies - https://bit.ly/2uAJImM - as my default. But problem - the default 'wifi tether' allows a meager ~25kb per second & has no option to set a password.

There are some days you simply sit back and praise your fantastic luck. In my case, I am extremely lucky that a man named Joshua Wise created HoRNDIS (https://joshuawise.com/horndis), a 46KB file that enabled me to post this Peep right now.

Has anyone successfully set up a business in Eastern Europe/Balkans/SE Asia? I'm considering Georgia - great country, progressive crypto tax laws, definitely a place I'll go back to live in the future. I've also heard good things about Malta, Estonia, Singapore, HK.
If any of the lawyers of Peepeth (@lawyer @zoe @Badri @Akira @AdamAtlas @guypal @blockchainlawyer @eburgwedel) are willing to share your insights on crypto tax/companies I'll find some way to help you back - Keybase.io/JamesScaur or james [at] txbatch [dot] com

The biggest holdback for blockchain adoption IMO are buying coins and having to pay for every transaction. Peepeth made transactions free for all users, which is a step in the right direction. What other dapps do you know that address these issues in a user friendly way?
I agree. Check out https://cent.co, https://textile.photos and the Blockstack Dapp Store: http://app.co/

It typically sneaks up on me but if I remember I’ll save after each peepsesh. There will soon be an optional feature that lets you auto-sign from an authorized key that Peepeth manages, which can be revoked at any time using your main address.
Nice. Keybase.io do a similar feature, allowing you to execute actions e.g. follow people, without having to authorise from your device.

Don't take it from me but I hear working at an airport in duty free/customs is an excellent way to acquire cheap alcohol/cigarettes.

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully the Italian wine makes up for it. Are you going to travel overland / ferry to Palermo?
I'm sure it will 🍷
Overall, I had a good experience at the airport - was told to go to the wrong terminal, ended up being 15 mins over boarding gate shutoff for connection, but thanks to Italian perception of time they were also late and I managed to board :)

That's not in every country of the EU the case. In Germany for example you can buy an carry beer/wine from 16 years on and hard alcohol with 18. No legal problems with that. So, it's a good advice to check the rules for every country before you arrive there.
Ah, ok, my bad. Might just be the Netherlands?
Now in Palermo, Sicily!
Beautiful photo over Milan yesterday:
Just arrived in Milan. Protip for young travellers in the EU: if you're under 23, you're not allowed to transport alcohol, even if purchased in duty-free. Goodbye Belgian special beer...
(The real tragedy is that the nice customs officers can't use anything they confiscate)

Here's a short article about quantum organizations. The basic idea is about building awareness and consciousness to allow for self-organization. https://www.researchgate.net/publication/282701850_Organizational_Development_and_Quantum_Organizations

@scaur what project are you working on?
It's not a blockchain project in the usual sense you hear, but we definitely intend to support the ecosystem - https://txbatch.com. Customer service tool for cryptocurrency exchanges.
The 99% still doesn't understand the internet either but it doesn't stop them from using it.
It's going to be the same with blockchain. One day, it will be simpler than cash and easier than email. Mark my words.

Disturbed but not surprised. Deleted Facebook, waited 60 days (30 day is cutoff). Recreated FB with different birth year, different IP address but same name in private browser. Friend suggestions = all my friends from old account.
Yep. There's probably shadow-profiles associated with your IP from the thousands of sites you've visited using FB widgets, WhatsApp metadata if you use it, and good old friends-and-family-syncing-their-contacts-to-FB-servers.
:)
Wow. It is significantly easier to sleep earlier / wake up earlier, when you're living alone (or exclusively with early risers)

Nice, if you haven't yet, look into emotional intelligence by Daniel Goleman, not necessarily the book but the concepts--solid leadership material. If anyone's got some recommended readings about cultural intelligence or quantum organizations please let me know!
I haven’t read that yet, nor have I heard of cultural intelligence or quantum organizations. Why do you recommend learning about them?
I like learning about language and group dynamics, so there might be an overlap

I had an idea to create a small mailing list for these. Advantage is obviously that people will get info served, which makes me think that it needs to e a bit more creative and rewarding to the reader, rather than just listing introspective updates. Thanks for the reminder :)

Yep, the only thing this stops is people publicly promoting encryption / companies providing crypto services
