i use dark mode on just about everything. my eyeballs aren't getting any younger. :P
Your eyeballs need heavy lifting to get stronger. I've been working them out by staring at the sun. I'm now up to 6 minutes every two days. You can feel the burn. :P
I never use a dark mode unless it's like Discord and comes in it at default.

Hello world! Some part of me feels uncomfortable knowing these "peeps" may exist for a long time, but then again this is likely true for Twitter as well. I hope our social norms improve such that we will judge people for who they are today, and forgive what should be forgiven.

Correction: Diversity didn't lead it, our connectivity(internet) did.
Our connectivity and tailoring our feeds to match our opinions created the divide. Try to go out of your way to read some contrary rhetoric to provide healthy temporary cognitive dissonance.It's like having a debate between objective reality and our confirmation bias in our heads

Well they have a class on phallacies(sorta) in High School, and I think there should be one on fallicies. How news is gathered and written. Authors and editors are doing a job, providing a service, and trying to make money. Sometimes the service part is forgotten.
Yeah my Senior English teacher was a bit of an oddball but I learned a lot from her. The rhetorical writing class was the meat that taught me how to critically think through an article and apply how those fallacies are intentionally shaping our thinking.

I get it I think. If those numbers are true then we truly are in a diff era of politics, and accountability. Back to news though, but on the same subject. Will we all need a course on how to read the news, seeing through to the objective truth vs personal truth of the author?

I understand the reblogging. I use Google News as my source...say what you will about that but, to your point we have to dig and dig to find something more than a 3 paragraph article w/o a click bait title. Oh if I had an eth for every highly inaccurate article title I would be..
That's another point of contention with me. People read the title but not the article so even if the article contradicts the title they take the title as the piece of news and run with it. Please read the article. It only takes a few moments. Grr.

I don't know. Experts dedicated to single fields disagree with each other after decades of study. Certainty is ignorance. "I don't know, X makes sense to me, we'll have to wait and see." I will accept as being pretty damn enlightened
Renaissance men are far and few between in this specialized world. You only have so much time. Still you have to be proactive because while the specialists make educated guesses and make mistakes it's still progress rather than sitting in ignorance. Wisdom > intelligence.

Do I simply get it now... So close to 40 and all of a sudden I understand? Was the Clinton and Bush eras of new just as bad, and I was just not aware? Is social networking and media making it worse or is more information better? Is the info accurate?
I've been reading news on the internet since the early 2000s and it's never been this rhetorical. Much more opinions that facts and what facts are out there are manipulated. I hate when the whole landscape basically reblogs one news story. Used to be fighting for scoops.

Thank you! I wrote this because I've seen the First Amendment argument several times now, wrt Peepeth's moderation. I think there are ways to accomplish Peepeth's greater goals without resorting to mods, etc., which may alienate people who can benefit from those goals.
Well I would disagree on there not needing to be mods. If someone put something illegal on the site then sure the one that perpetrated it goes on the block chain and can be found but the front end can be liable for publishing it. There needs to be moderation for that reason.

The right to freedom of speech granted to US citizens from abridged or fear of retaliation by and on behalf of the government. Freedom of speech has A) no applicability to private interactions B) only covers US citizens in communications with US government. (1 of 2)
The first amendment enshrines into law freedom of speech via the government. The concept of freedom of speech is that no one with power over your ability to express yourself may take that away. The question is do social platforms have that power or not if everywhere is censored?

Currently it can be free (https://peepeth.com/help/signing), however i'm unclear about how this works exactly and if it will be free in the future.
I just reached the free signing. I had to post 50 peeps as the requirement. The signup was $.07 and using faster to sign cost about 2 or 3 cents depending on the value of ethereum. So every 15 posts out of 50 would be at most 12 cents. 7+12=19. So $0.19 to get to free posting.
